Public Places Do's and Don'ts

Do's

Do regular check-up of vehicular exhaust & better maintenance of vehicles to reduce air pollution.

Turn off the vehicle engine at red light traffic signal.

Use public transport and adopt pooling of private vehicles.

Celebrate festivals in eco-friendly manner.

Use eco-friendly products wherever it possible.

(Eco-friendly products made of Papers, Cotton, jute, chemical free, etc)

Throw the wastes in dustbin only.

Use jute and cloth bags instead of plastic bags.

Use Community Toilet Complex (CTC) to reduce health hazards and foul environment.

Plant at least one tree sapling per individual & nurture it.

Minimization of waste by adopting 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle ) & Zero garbage concept.

  • Reduce the amount of waste at the source by carrying own cloth/jute bag while going for shopping; avoid using disposable items and unnecessary packaging materials.
  • Reuse bricks, stone slabs, timber, conduit piping, railing, old cloth and other house hold items to the utmost possible extent.
  • Recycle plastics, broken glass, scrap metal, etc to the extent possible.
  • Zero-garbage concept means entire solid waste generated from household shall be either reused/recycled or disposed by composting.

Don’ts:

1.No smoking in public places.

Union Health Ministry issued a notification for the ban under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products

2. Do not throw waste matter in the open. Use dust bins.

3. Do not smoke in public places/vehicles. No spitting in public places.

Smoking and spitting is banned at all places of public use.

4. Public display of emotions
In India, public display of affection (between men and women) is not considered very appropriate. It is therefore advisable that hugging and kissing be avoided in public places. It can lead to unnecessary remarks and attract unwanted attention.

5. Do not urinate in public places.

6. Racing in public places

Participating in any racing contest in any public place without the written consent of the state government can attract a penalty of up to Rs500 or imprisonment up to 1 month or both (Section 189 Motor Vehicles Act).
